Impressa S9 Avantgarde Features

The S9 has pre-programmed brew settings, but these are easily customizable to your preferences. The dial on the right lets you program the menu options and the 4 brewing buttons along the top can be programmed to select the amount of liquid and the strength of your brew, all by turning the dial. Its special pre-infusion burst of hot water saturates the grounds to maximize their flavor and aroma and the Clearyl Water Care Filtration system assures your water is pure, so your espresso is brewed to perfection.

Easy to understand controls:

• Power button starts the double stainless steel-lined ThermoBlock boilers to insulate and maintain heat;
• Push button allows you to alternate between pre-programmed brewing choices and the rotary dial to select the brewing volume and strength.
• Use preset amounts, or manually override to customize to your own tastes;
• Rapid Steam  technology allows you to switch from brewing to steaming and frothing instantly;
• LCD digital display on the front panel gives you step by step instructions for making espresso and lets you read prompts and status messages;  
• Program:
  • Auto-on and Auto off times
  • Hot water rinse cycle;
  • Pre-heat unit;
  • 2 water temperatures – normal, and high;
  • Espresso/coffee strength (from very mild to very strong)
  • Espresso/coffee volume, in ½ oz. increments up to 8 oz. per cup, for 2 cups;
  • Energy saving mode, to turn off after 5 hours, or in any 30 minute interval for up to 15 hours!
  • Select any of 7 languages.

Integrated Grinder

• Commercial quality internal stainless steel conical burr grinder for quiet, precise grinding;
• 6 grind settings for fine to coarse texture;
• Grinder dial is easily accessible inside the bean hopper
• Low speed grinding prevents beans from being burned;
• 10 oz. capacity in the covered bean hopper.
• Top-loading bypass doser provides a separate funnel that you can pour 6 to 9 grams of pre-ground coffee into so you can make different brews for different tastes and different times;

Dual Frothing and Steaming Systems: 

• Stainless steel frothing arm;
• Dual Frother Plus manual steam wand is used in the UP position for steamed milk, and DOWN for frothed milk;
• When display says: ‘Ready,’ place the steam wand into a pitcher of cold milk, and either use the preset 20 second timer, or select the amount of time you want to steam, from 3 seconds to 2 minutes;
• Dual Frother Plus steam arm will also dispense up to 15 oz. of hot water for tea, coffee Americano and hot chocolate;
• Easily remove the Dual Frother and attach the Froth Express;
• Froth Express has a built-in milk hose and nozzle that pulls milk from any external container and dispenses it directly into your cup.

Special ‘Café’ Features:

• Cup warmer on top of the unit for demitasse cups;
• Large, removable 96 oz. water reservoir with indicator lines and a plastic handle for easy removal.
• Coffee nozzle adjusts up or down to accommodate any size cups;
• Cup counter lets you keep track of usage, which is often necessary in a commercial setting;
• Includes Clearyl Water Filtration System to remove minerals, such as chlorine, lead, and aluminum, and lime scale, thus eliminating the need to decalcify. It also prolongs the life of your espresso machine;

• Bean hopper needs to be refilled;
• Water supply is low and should be replenished;
• Used grounds need to be emptied;
• The Brew Group may experience a problem;
• Cleaning or decalcification cycle (if you don’t use the Clearyl Water Filter) is recommended.
